Hello and happy Friday!
It’s been a full on week for me. I have some illustration deadlines due on Monday morning so I have been working hard to finish that project for that time. As a result, I didn’t have the opportunity to work more on my Space Walk illustration. However, I am looking forward to tackling it next week!
A Look Inside my Sketchbook.
I have been encouraged by my artist friends to develop the daily habit of drawing in a sketchbook. While I have not been able to sketch every single day, I do schedule time to draw while I am travelling to work on the train each morning. Sometimes I have a theme or technique in mind. Other times I just draw whatever strikes me on the day. I number my sketchbooks to help keep them in order.
Checkout this 1 minute timelapse video of the pages of Sketchbook #17. These sketches date from June 2021 to March 2022.
Question: Do you keep a sketchbook? What kinds of things do you draw in it?
Awesome Photos from the James Webb Space Telescope.
You have probably seen the news that the first lot of photos have been received from the James Webb Space Telescope. I’m sure that you would agree that the pictures are stunning! They are a fantastic source of inspiration for colours and shapes. They are also quite humbling as they showcase the size, the age and the beauty the the universe relative to us here on earth.
The photos are free to download at webbtelescope.org, where you can also read about this amazing project. You can also check out this article, which explains the significance of these images.
That’s all for this week. See you next Friday when I will update you on the Space Walk illustration.
All the best- Paul!
