Hello and happy Friday!
You may have noticed there wasn’t a newsletter post last week. I was flat out with a few things and decided to skip a post for the sake of my sanity and sleep.
My main focus for this week has been to prepare for a school visit that is happening next Tuesday for Book Week.
This is the first time I have been invited to a school as an illustrator. The theme for Book Week this year is “Dreaming with eyes open.” I will be talking to the students about using their imagination and taking them through some fun exercises to create characters and stories.
I am excited but also quite nervous. Lots of irrational thoughts keep going through my head like: “What if they think I’m boring?” “What if I don’t make any sense?” “What if they think my drawings are no good?”
Having said all this, I trust that it will all go fine and that, even if something does go wrong, the kids will at least prefer my presentation to doing maths!
I will make sure that I get some photos of the day to share with you next week.
Did your school ever celebrate book week? What are your memories? What character did you dress up as?
Let me know in the comments.
All the best until next week.
Paul!
